I've got to admit, in the whole line of Bandai's Yamato 2199 model kits, this one is probably the least appealing to me, or that was the case until I opened the box, and saw what I was in for. First it's much smaller than I had originally predicted. I knew based on the display stand in the pictures that it was going to be a smaller kit, but it's pretty tiny. Still I'm not letting that deter me from what is looking like a very fun project.
A closer look at this kit shows that it's a sophisticated and very well engineered kit. The Ship is molded in multi-colored parts, for those who want a quick build. For those wanting to take the kit to a further level you've got that too, lots of recessed panel lines and based on Bandai kits I've build in the past I'm guessing very good fits.
The Core Ship is designed to fit into ta bigger battle ship, they do provide a picture of it, but there isn't one available in 1000 scale, although a few have made the comment that one is on the way, due to the success of the 1:1000 Domelaze. However I've yet to hear this confirmed by Bandai, It would be a really cool project and I do hope will be a reality in the future.
The kit also comes with 2 Mecha kits, the DDG 110 (Me 110) Both kits are the usual grand engineering. They resemble SR-71 Blackbirds, which is a cool perk, and have decals. Again I was sceptical about this kit, but now that I've seen and studied it I'd love to build it, just goes to show that you don't judge a book or model kit by it's cover.
